Dripping Tap

She stepped into the bath and felt the heat, the tingle, in her feet. As she sat down slowly, using the edges of the bath to lower herself, she knew she was just using the hot water as an embrace. Something, anything, to give the hug that no one could provide. She closed her eyes and felt the heat rise through and within her body. The mountain tops of her bent knees were the ice caps, trying to regulate her temperature, but her face, sweating, began to glow like the sun. She had needed this more than she realised. Her hand went to top up the bath with hot water and her ears caught the beginning of a sleepy cry from the next room. “I need you. I need you...”
“Be right there sweetheart. Be right there...”
